The amazon review of this product is dead on. Sound is decent, and it's very easy to set up. The only complaint I have is that the LCD isn't backlit, so it's hard to read in low lighting conditions.

Not Worth It

I had an answering machine for years and decided to update to a newer model and bought this one because it was closest to the one Consumer Reports recommended - big mistake! Three months later it's broken and going thru AT&T's help line was a big pain. After going thru a bunch of prompts, a tape recording told me to "replace the batteries and the tape." This unit has neither one.

It has very good sound, easy to understand instructions, works as expected except I have hooked it to a two line telephone and can only use one line while hooked up through this answereing machine.

Perfect set up for older homes

Our home is nearly 100 years old. Needless to say, we have exactly one telephone outlet that was installed by the phone company. We were able to hook up a second one, but none for the upstairs. This set is perfect. Our base is on the "real" outlet and all four satellites are in the rooms upstairs. The sound quality is excellent and I don't have to worry about the computer interfering (we have DSL) with the sound anymore. All the recorded speed dial numbers are picked up by every phone and it also doubles as an intercom system. For the price, it turned out to be perfect for us.

I have the Friday / Fax / Answer Machine 2000 many years

I've had the Friday / Fax / Answer Machine 2000 many years...since about 1998....YEP! bought it in OfficeMax it's been around for a long time.

I'm a Realtor & we also have a family owned landscape business.

The Friday has to be one of the BEST things we ever attached to our phone lines (we have 2).

It's not your typical ez plug n go cheap machine. The Friday is a mini VOICE MAIL record n notify machine...it takes a bit of reading before set up and then some time in a quiet area to set it up right...don't rush :)
It has 6 separate mail boxes...we use 3.

Each mail box has it own unique settings for leaving messages and retrieval locally or by remote via phone line.

It plugs into the electrical outlet and has a 9V backup battery that seems to last almost forever...I've only had to replace it once in all these years.

It can forward to my pager or my cell phone or my other office etc.

It doesn't lose settings in a power outage like many cheap machines.

After Hurricane Wilma 10/2005 we were without power for 3 1/2 weeks.
Friday worked perfect when the power came back on and all our messages were still stored...it was perfect again (keep tract of the battery during an extended power outage to keep things stored.

The model I have can operate on 1 phone line or 2 and switches call to my fax when needed. If you want it to page or call forward to somewhere else you have to have 2 SEPARATE phone line...not piggy back ring master.

It's worth the effort to set it up properly and for sure I wish Bogen would keep making this machine and also bring the price down so more people would buy it and realize the professional quality this machine is.
It's fairly small, hangs on the wall and isn't an eye sore in my kitchen.

Some Bogen Friday machines have been discontinued but they are still around NEW if you search the net for them. Bogen has a very useful site I've added below.

BTW as a Realtor I get many, many calls n messages...this machine has never let us down.

Not very good!

This item did not meet my expectations. The call forwarding volume was very low and the answering machine did not hang up when someone choose not to leave a message. I don't recommend this!

Excellent Value for the money

This product works as advertised. Bluetooth feature is great - your mobile will automatically connect when you come home, although it sometimes needs to be re-initiated if there is a conflict with another device. For example, I have had a problem if I'm washing my car outside with the bluetooth radio on. It is easily fixed by doing a simple set up again. No problems so far. Satisfied with this product after a year of use.

Great Phone

Love the phone, it has all the features I wanted for the price I wanted to pay. My old home office phone was dieing and I wanted a phone that could work with my bluetooth as I hate holding the handset. The phone has both on base and handset speaker phone capability, and the keypad on base is what I really required. Recommend this phone is like to use bluetooth headsets.

Great concept, but...

I was excited to get this phone for my household because my wife and I don't have a landline and rely on our cell phones. The bluetooth connectibility worked well at first, but it has been tempermental at times. We have also experienced echo when accessing the cell line via the cordless units.

As an intercom and a DECT phone, the unit is fabulous. We are using it in an older 2 story home and it has saved us multiple trips up & down the stairs to call someone.

Poor Business Phone

I cannot believe this is marketed as a quality business phone. I have a home office and need a two or three line telephone with speakerphone, conferencing, voice mail capability and a reasonable sound quality as one would expect in a business communication device. There are MAJOR issues with this phone for this use. These are not optional features, they are MUST HAVES for my use.
Issues:
1) Speakerphone is not duplex... if you are talking with someone with white noise in the background like you may get with a cell phone in a car, the speakerphone thinks the other party is talking continuously and it keeps your microphone silent... the other party cannot hear you. The only way you can keep the conversation alive is to void the speakerphone and use the handset. (STRIKE ONE)

2) Mailbox. The phone has an acceptable voice mail system HOWEVER if you are on one line when a call comes in, the voice mail box WILL NOT answer the second call and take the message... it rings and rings and rings. How many missed opportunities did I lose because I was on the other line!!!! (STRIKE TWO)

3) Conferencing Feature: If you want to conference two or more phone lines... FORGET IT! You can hear all parties fine but they cannot hear each other... USELESS AND STRIKE THREE.

If you never need or use these features this could be the phone for you but if you do... you will NEVER be happy with this phone.

I am very frustrated... in this day and age the trend is toward virtual offices and no one seems to make a fully functional home office phone for those of us with this need. What a missed opportunity for someone.

Prior to this phone I owned the Siemens 8825 and unlike many who did not like the phone, I found it performed extremely well for the last four years. My unit had one too many power surges and gave up the ghost. It apparently is now out of production... too bad.

Great and woderous phone

honestly...I never got the phone I ordered from Amazon. Unsolved mystery as to where that phone went. Will say that Amazon has excellent customer service from that persective. But needed one badly and quickly. Ordered from another site. Wonderful phone. Not to complicated. Excellent for my home office. Connects peacefully to my headset. Voice mail is pretty cool. Only thing is the attendant. She is truly designed for an office and answers the phone to indicate business hours. And if you use the attendant, she want to try and transfer you to a line. But you can put your voice in place of the attendant. Absolutely worth the $$$ I paid.

AT&T E-Series Expansion Heandset

Some time ago, I invested a considerable sum in my phone system, only to find a day later that AT&T was no more! My husband has MS and it was critical that he has handsets in multiple places in our home This year, when one handset broke, I was shocked to find that AT&T was charging almost what I paid the the entire system for a single handset! The perfect phone system for us

We'd owned our old answering machine/cordless phone for ten years or so, and it was becoming difficult to hear what people were saying (even others who used our phone commented upon this). All I expected was to be able to replace what we had with something new. For about what we paid for the old one, we now have three phones around the house (plus a corded phone). The base has a 50-number directory which is easy to program and search. The sound quality is fine. The operable distance is greater than our previous phone (goes to the edges of our city lot). We're REALLY happy with this 3-phone system.

WORTHLESS

This product is COMPLETELY useless without a "base station" as these are only "accessory" phones and will not operate or connect on their own. The Amazon.com description FAILED to note this important matter, and now Amazon.com claims I purchased these items direct from the vendor, DESPITE THE FACT that I bought them in the usual manner through Amazon.com. Now the vendor refuses to honor a refund (less shipping costs) because I past some arbitrary 30-day period NOT DISCLOSED BY AMAZON.COM when these items were purchased.

I will never purchase another item from Amazon.com again.

AT&T EP5632 5.8GHz Cordless Phone Description

The AT&T EP5632 5.8 GHz digital, Bluetooth enabled, cordless phone with answering system is perfect for any small or home office. The frequency hopping technology provides you with extended range and clarity. Bluetooth compatibility allows you to receive calls from up to two connected cell phones. With this feature, simultaneously conferencing with your land line and mobile phone caller has never been easier.

A built-in digital answering machine, with up to 15 minutes of recording time, allows you to retrieve messages from additional handsets. Good quality, lack of features

I specifically looked at this model because of the Bluetooth capability and the initial pairing and the call quality are great. Here are my two gripes that ultimately lead me to take the unit back after trying it for a couple of weeks:

1) You can only have 1 active bluetooth phone paired at a time. Most phones that support this allow for at least 2 paired devices.

2) The auto-pair technology. This was the deal breaker. The idea is the unit will reconnect with your phone should you take it away and bring it back. That works only under one condition - that you don't actually use a bluetooth headset with the cell phone in the meantime. Because I use a bluetooth headset when I am in the car, everytime I would return home there would be no connection and I would have to go through and manually pair the unit again. This became highly annoying after a few days and finally did me in.

So, the phone itself worked great and had clear reception both in cordless mode as well as in cell mode, but if you are shopping specifically for the bluetooth feature, then you might need to keep looking.

Easy to set up. Great quality. BLUETOOTH WORKS AWESOME. I pd 90 for my set. 3 phones 2 chargers 1 base. My only complaint is that the back lighting on the keys is not all that bright. During daytime usage it is hard to see if the speaker phone light is actually lit (but you can look at the screen, and hear it as well). The Call log is a bit hard to navigate though at first, but you get used to it. Setting up the bluetooth was as easy as it could have been. The whole thing was set up (bluetooth, outgoing message, time and date) in less than 5 min. Battery life is great as well. Making calls from your cell is super easy, just tap the "celluar" button and it is ready. The range for the base to pick up your cell phone is crazy. I can go across the street and the base will pick it up still. (I tested it with my cell in one hand and a phone in the other AND was able to make a call) So, I highly recommend this set.

Very nice

Overall, this is a nicely done phone system. Setup was a breeze. You can actually do it without the manual. Best of all the Bluetooth link feature works perfectly (with my Moto Razr V3c). It's worth it for that feature alone. The Dect 6.0 won't interfere with your WiFi network. Handset volume is very good, unlike the competing Panasonic Bluetooth enabled phones. Keys have a nice tactile click when pressed and I find the blue backlighting very cool.

I'd give it a solid 5 except for:

1. Handsets have no belt clips.
2. Handsets have no jacks for an external headset.
3. No provision for naming handsets. Ie. you can't change "Handset 1" to "Kitchen" for example. Uniden has all these features.
4. Made in China - but then is *anything* still made in the US?

Excellent choice

We use the ATT E2562 Expandable base with a full compliment of 8 extra handsets. We use them in conjunction with our Vonage internet phone service which has two lines. The range is very good ... it goes all over the house and even into the neighbor's yard. It works great and gives us a lot of flexibility in putting phones where we want them.

I love these phones

I needed a two-line phone for my home / home office. I looked at a lot of phones, and while none were "perfect" for what I wanted this one is close. I wanted two lines, a base station, and expandible handsets. This phone has all of that. The only thing I didn't need was the answering machine. I use Phone Co. Voice Mail. I wish this phone would tell me that I had messages in the VM, but it doesn't unless you use its built in answering machine. (The SBC phone did show a light when there was VM, but it was not a two line phone).

Running a home office, I can't tell you the convienience of being able to answer the office line anywhere in the house with the push of an "L2" button. This is my favorite feature. You can even make L2 ring differently. (I only wish that the settings like saved phone numbers, ring tones, and caller ID were syncrohinzed on all handsets - you have to set them separately).

Overall, great phone system! I just bought another extension. I am up to 5 now plus the base!

Perfect for the small home office

Bought this for my wife's real estate business (at the home.) AT&T knows their business, and it is phones. We have a seperate voicemail system, so if this unit's problems are insurmountable for you, look elsewhere.
Great buttons that did not break like the V-tech unit we had before. Those buttons wore out into mushy oblivion.

The Speaker Proved to be a Problem

I'm a self described research geek. I spend more time researching things before I buy them than is necessary. I envy the people that walk into a store knowing they need a phone and simply pick one of the options on the shelf, and off they go. I did a lot of research on phones before purchasing the AT&T DECT 6.0 CL84109. I used the phone for two weeks. During that time, my primary use of the phone was participating on conference calls for business. I use the speaker on the handset for a conference call. I have no one else at home during the day so the rest of the house is quiet. The only problem I had with the phone was the voice level of the person on the other line. Their voice would come through over the speaker very clearly and at a normal volume and then the volume of their voice would dip down to a tiny whisper while they were in mid sentence. This problem did not occur if I took a call through the handset (speaker was off). I tried a couple handsets and the same problem. I tried with a variety of conference calls that had different people involved and that took place in different locations...the same problem showed up each time. If it weren't for the problem with the dropping off of voices through the speaker, I would still have the phone. I returned it and was quickly refunded.

Best phone we've had for our house

We have an old Victorian that is two stories, thick brick walls, and about 4300 sq ft. This is the first phone set that allows us to talk in any room in the house, plus outside, and even in the carriage house. Great phone !!

Set this one up for Mom

After my own experience with these same handsets on a simpler base without corded handset nor digital answering capability I had no hesitation buying and setting up this model for Mom's needs. Put optional fresh, high-quality batteries in the base to assure corded handset can make / receive calls during power outages.

Excellent Buy

We recently replaced our office telephone system that was over 10 years old. We spent a lot of time looking for the right system at the right price. The quality and the features of this AT&T expandable system are just incrediable. We could not be more happy. We purchased the optional bluetooth head set. It takes a good 8 hours to install the equipment and set up all the features like auto attendant, intercom extenstions, voice mail on each handset, speed dial numbers, handset & headset registering, on-line warranty registration and the main voice mail recorder. The repeater gives a fantastic boost to range of use for the cordless handsets when walking away from the base phone. It also boosts the range of the blue tooth headset. I would not buy the system without the repeater.

Very good range

This is a really good phone system.

I was going to buy the Panasonic 4500B system but a friend told me the newer wireless technology was better
I work at home so it's nice to have multiple lines on one phone but what's really nice is the range; over 1700 SqFt in my home so it's really nice to not worry about static when I'm far away from the base.

This has been a great 4-line phone system for our office

We have had this phone system for almost 2 months, and we are very impressed. It is a big improvement over our similar Panasonic 4-line system, which we were happy to get rid of when we recently moved offices (poor sound quality, the '1' buttons went dead on several of the handsets, and the battery life was not good). This phone has extra bells and whistles that our Panasonic did not. One of the greatest features I like is that the handsets have speakerphone capability (not just the base station), it can record phone calls (the other person will hear a beep), and another employee can join in on a phone call in progress just by holding down the specific line key from their handset (or base) (and a person can put the call into privacy to disallow this feature, per call), and lots more neat features, such as Push to Talk and Intercom.

The base unit and handsets are also better looking than our Panasonic system, and the back-lighting is much, much better. Oh, and a REALLY GREAT feature that we now have is MUSIC ON HOLD!!!! We are not on a PBX system (so we save lots of money!), so with our old Panasonic system, if we put somebody on hold, it was just silence for them, so I always had to tell them that they will "hear silence" (oxy-moron!). If I didn't, many callers would think that they got disconnected. With this AT&T system, callers automatically have music on hold -and better yet, we have the ability to put whatever 3-minute sound-byte we want on there (music or a personal message from the company president, etc.) and change it as often as we want, as the phone will connect to your computer or cd player or radio (anything with a 3.5mm audio jack), or use a headset to talk right into the machine to record the 3-minute loop.

I really like the speaker function on the handsets. I don't like to wear headsets, so if I am on hold on a call, I like to press "speaker" and then set the phone down so I have my hands free so I can better multi-task. When the caller comes on, then I just hit the speaker button again to take it off speakerphone. I have found, as is common with speakerphones, that they are not great to use if you have background noise, but it is handy for allowing others around you to hear your call, or like I mentioned, to set it down while on hold.

Setup was a BREEZE! I got the base station and the 4 handsets all set up and registered in about 10 minutes. This included personalization of adding a name to each phone on the screen for ID, setting a special ring tone for our line 2 calls, and other options.

The reception RANGE is OUTSTANDING! We could only go about 35 feet with our Panasonic system, but this one goes the distance! I just took it for a walk and walked out of our building, through the long parking lot and across the street, without even a crackle! Superior! And that is without the DECT extender, which I am told would allow us to go another 300 feet (which we would never need, but still impressive!). I was confused about whether to buy the DECT accessory unit on Amazon becuase I was not sure if we needed the DECT unit with the phone system, so I called AT&T, and they explained that it doubles your range. I figured I would first test the range after getting the phone system to see if we needed it, and as I mentioned, found that we don't need it.

I cannot provide a review of the built in voicemail feature, because we do not use it. We use our phone company's voicemail so that we can get voicemails via our email or retrieve our voicemails online. I also do not use the Auto Attendant, as we like to answer our calls personally, but it does seem like a handy feature.

Overall, I am very impressed with this sturdy unit, and feel I made the best choice for our new phone system. Amazon had the best price, and with free shipping, and we received it quickly. I was at first hesitant to buy it because the few prior reviews were not as favorable as I had hoped, but one review had to do with setup issues, which I don't think was an issue with the phone, but how their phone lines were set up. I had no issues at all (but we did have a local phone installer come pair the lines for us (line 1/2 and 3/4, as would be necessary anyway.

Fatally Flawed Product - I Strongly Recommend You Stay Away

What a disappointment. We needed a new 4 line DECT system for our home. This is the only 4 line DECT cordless phone system on the market, so I bought it despite my misgivings about AT&T.

As reported by other reviewers on this site, we too found the voicemail feature did not work properly. It cut people off, usually as they were leaving a return phone number.

What's truly disappointing is that the aside from the voice mail issues, the phone performed flawlessly. The range was terrific, and the sound quality was outstanding.

I called AT&T support, who denied that there was any issue with this model's VM system. The support person really tried hard to help, advising me to delete all old messages, unplug the system and reset the voice mail, which I did.

However, this did NOT fix the issue and I had to return the system.

I wish I could have found a work around. I would like to thank Amazon for their amazing customer service. They continue to earn my deep respect, and loyalty.

4 Line Dect for big home; Works!

I am married with two kids, 9 and 13, in a two story 10,000 foot house. So I have three issues, simplicity, multi line and range.

First let me explain why I wanted 4 lines. My kids are starting to use the phone. I have two telephone lines, the Tmobile @ home service, and just bought the XLink BTTN Cellular Bluetooth Gateway, which connects 3 cell phones via bluetooth to a multi-handset. Hence I now have 4 lines. The last two lines only cost $10 a month. The tmobile line is $10 and the bluetooth gateway is free. So why not have 4 lines versus waiting to pick up a line? I like the bluetooth gateway because now I do not miss calls to my cell when I am at the house. Now it goes to any of my 10 extensions.

Second, lets visit about range. My Smarthome guy suggested the best range phone for my house was the $600 Engenius phone. That was just too expensive a solution. I needed a multi line Dect phone that would work in my house. Last year I bought the Philips 2 line Dect Phone when it came out. It had the range, but the numbers and buttons are way too small for a 48 year old. It was serviceable.

This ATT phone is has a lot features and is pretty easy to use. The base is pricey but it is meant for a small office. It is expandable to 10 wireless handsets. The base has big numbers and a corded handset. My one complaint is that the handset is corded. I think they designed it that way in case of loss of power. The base has a sophisticated auto attendant that I turned off. For my wife I set up her line so that messages go to the general mailbox. For line 3, the tmobile line, the kids line, after 4 rings throughout the house, the answering machine picks up and the message that I left instructs callers to dial *3 for boy and *5 for girl. The message then goes to the boy or girl's handset. Each handset is an extension, and has individual voice mail. Pretty nifty.

The phone seems quite sturdy and well made. It has big numbers and button that I can read and the display is good. Intercom works great as well. The phone is easy to use.

A feature I really like about this phone system is you can add AT&T TL7600 Wireless Headset. You connect this headset the same way you add a handset, which is really easy. It is about $80 but really a great accessory for a wife that likes to cook, and talk on the phone. (don't make the mistake I made and get the ATT 7610; it is too complicated to set up) It also has the same Dect range, so it is much better than bluetooth. In effect it is just another Dect handset. That is brilliant in my book.

AT&T 86009 system

Works well as advertised; found the menus and setup quite intuitive even without reading the manuals. Very clear and complete information on the screens. I do not use the Bluetooth but tested it briefly and it does seem to work well, which would be a nice feature for the many who use cell phones as their house line. I bought the base set with 3 cordless, plus 3 cordless packs of 3; so we have 9 of these plus the base spread around a large house. So far, good strong signal everywhere. I considered getting a range extender but so far not needed. We do not use the answering machine part of the base and sets but it appears to be an easy setup and use for each of the lines. Except for one mismatched battery cover (which AT&T is suppose to send to me (not yet received) under warranty, I'm happy!

i step out my car it connects automatically to my cell phone i go out to the car it disconnects until i come home again, i also have a magic jack so basically i can use three different lines on this one phone this is how i am set up line 1 my regular house number, line 2 magic jack and line 3 is my blue tooth connection paired from my cell to house phone awesome, i could be in the back yard 1000 feet away with one of the handset and answer any of the numbers, for those who might be wondering like i was if there is one phone jack on the phone well its two i was curious about it because my phone line do not come in on one cable but two separate cable so i needed to have two jacks. so thats it delivery was on time and the seller product arrived and works as described.
